Private schools urged to prioritize qualified teachers

Founder and former president of the Independent Schools Association of Malawi (ISAMA),Joseph Patel,has called on private schools in the country to hire qualified and registered teachers to support the government’s efforts to improve the education sector.
Speaking on Friday during the inaugural graduation ceremony of Skyline Private Schools in Mchinji,where 30 students are preparing to sit for the Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) examinations,Patel emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards in education, noting that some private schools prioritize profits over quality learning.

On his part,Skyline Private Schools Managing Director, Africano Phiri, outlined their plans to support the government’s goal of increasing access to education by providing modern facilities for kindergarten, primary, and secondary schools.
Phiri revealed that they have ambitions to enroll over 1,000 students within two years.
There are over 3,000 nursery , primary , secondary and tertiary private schools in Malawi.
