Tragic accident in Lilongwe claims five lives ahead of Mother’s Day

A tragic road accident occurred last night at Kasiya Turn Off on Kasiya Santhe Road in Lilongwe, claiming the lives of five people.
Among the victims was a two-year-old child who miraculously survived the crash without any injuries.
Eyewitnesses reported that a high-speed Toyota Hilux lost control of the road, veered off, and collided violently with a stationary truck.

One individual who was riding at the back of the truck also survived the incident but sustained injuries and was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The accident has shocked local residents, especially as it occurred on the eve of Mother’s Day, a time usually reserved for celebration and family gatherings.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, including the possible role of speeding and road safety negligence.
Emergency responders and police arrived at the scene to assist survivors, recover the bodies of the deceased, and manage traffic along the busy road.
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of road safety measures, particularly during nights and periods of high traffic flow.
