Vice President Michael Usi has announced that the construction of the Nasolo Bridge in Ndirande, Blantyre, is expected to be completed within the next two months.
Usi made the remarks on Tuesday during a visit to the project site, where he took time to inspect the ongoing work and engage with community members.

Speaking to local residents, Usi emphasized the importance of the bridge in improving mobility and access to essential services in the densely populated area.
He also reiterated government’s commitment to completing infrastructure projects on time and with transparency, especially in underserved urban communities like Ndirande.
The Vice President’s visit was warmly welcomed by residents, many of whom gathered to share their views and express concerns about past delays.
Among them was Takoma Mambucha, a long-time resident of Ndirande, who expressed gratitude for Usi’s hands-on leadership and visibility in the area.
Mambucha praised the progress made so far and appealed to authorities to ensure that the project is completed before the 2025 general elections.
The construction of the Nasolo Bridge is expected to ease transportation challenges, especially during the rainy season when flooding often renders the area impassable.
As anticipation builds for the bridge’s completion, residents remain hopeful that the project will be delivered on time, transforming daily life for thousands of commuters and businesses in Ndirande.
