Malawi and World Bank Review Progress on Foundational Learning Program

Education Secretary Dr. Ken Ndala met with a World Bank Mission to conclude discussions on the progress of the Malawi Foundational Learning Program. The meeting included officials from the Ministry of Education and the World Bank who reviewed advancements in improving literacy and numeracy for early-grade students in Malawi.
Dr. Ndala praised the World Bank for its ongoing support to the Government of Malawi, especially in strengthening the education sector. He stressed the Ministry’s dedication to ensuring every child in the country develops strong foundational learning skills.

Speaking for the World Bank Mission, Task Team Leader Nobuyuki Tana reaffirmed the Bank’s commitment to supporting the program’s implementation. He said the meeting provided an important opportunity to assess progress, share lessons, and pinpoint areas for further collaboration to improve learning outcomes nationwide.
