Government sets to visit Chikangawa plane crash site

By Vincent Gunde
It has been revealed by Deputy Minister of Homeland Security Hon. Norman Paulosi Chisale that Government is all set to visit the site where the plane that carried the then Vice President of the Republic Dr. Saulosi Chilima and eight others, crashed in the Chikangawa forest on the 10th June, 2024.
Minister of Justice Hon. Charles Mhango reviewed all the three reports covering circumstances surrounding the death of Dr. Chilima and eight others, he presented to President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika recommendations that it is necessary for the country to know the truth.
The tragic death of Dr. Saulosi Chilima brought silence in Malawi, many Malawians could not believe that Chilima is gone, they had millions of questions raised but without answers and those who were found speaking of his death, were arrested for the reasons best explained by President Chakwera and his MCP led government.

Norman Chisale told prisoners of Maula Prison in Lilongwe on the 25th December, 2025 that from 2nd January, 2026 they should expect new visitors joining them appealing to them to warmly welcoming them the same way they welcomed him and Tadikira Mafubza, step son of Madam Getrude Mutharika.
The statement which was made by Chisale has renewed hope in the peoples’ mind that many people were questioning if the government was serious to commence investigations surrounding Dr. Chilima’s and eight others, death following arrests of senior members of the MCP whose cases in the eyes of Malawians, were smaller than the Chikangawa case.
