HR expert calls for strategic evaluation of employee performance at Blantyre Workshop

By Burnett Munthali

Human Resource Management expert Bright Limani has called on managers to adopt a more strategic approach when analysing employee performance.

He made the appeal in Blantyre during a Balanced Scorecard Workshop that brought together 50 HR professionals and line managers from various organisations.

He explained that modern workplaces demand evidence-based performance assessments aligned with organisational goals.

The workshop covered a range of key topics including the fundamentals of performance management, the full performance cycle, performance calibration, and effective application of the Balanced Scorecard.

Limani emphasised that strategic performance analysis enables managers to identify strengths, address gaps, and enhance productivity within their teams.

He noted that the Balanced Scorecard remains one of the most powerful tools for linking employee outputs to broader institutional objectives.

Participants were taken through practical sessions designed to help them implement structured performance systems in their respective organisations.

One of the participants, Hosni Muyewa, said the training was an eye-opener as he learned how to effectively utilise the Balanced Scorecard when training staff.

He added that the knowledge gained will help him strengthen performance management processes within his institution.

The workshop concluded with a call for continued professional development to improve HR practices and promote accountability in Malawi’s workplaces.
