Malawi Receives Bodies of Six Citizens Killed in South Africa Crash

By Wadza Botomani
The bodies of six Malawian nationals who lost their lives in a tragic road accident in South Africa’s Limpopo province were repatriated to Malawi on Friday afternoon. The remains arrived through the Mwanza Border Post, where a somber ceremony was held to mark their return home.
The coffins were received by a gathering of officials from relevant government departments, alongside grieving relatives and members of the public who came to pay their last respects. The mood was heavy with sorrow as the community united in support of the bereaved families.

A brief funeral service was conducted at the border post itself, where religious leaders offered prayers and words of encouragement to comfort those affected by the devastating loss.
Following the service, the bodies were transported by road to their respective home districts across Malawi, where they will be laid to rest by their families. The successful repatriation was a coordinated effort between authorities, ensuring the deceased were returned to their homeland for burial according to local customs and traditions.
