President Mutharika Appoints Harold Msusa as New Secretary for Information and Communication Technology

President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has named Harold Mac Brey Msusa as the new Secretary for Information and Communication Technology. The appointment brings a seasoned executive with a strong background in digital transformation and strategic leadership to the forefront of Malawi’s ICT sector.

Msusa boasts over twenty years of distinguished experience across public, private, and development sectors. His career is marked by a proven record in driving institutional transformation, building high-impact partnerships, and delivering strategic reforms. He is widely recognized for his expertise in public affairs, sustainability, and regulatory management.

Prior to this national role, Msusa served as the Director of Public Affairs, Communication and Sustainability at Coca-Cola Beverages Africa in Malawi. His previous leadership positions include serving as the Nature-Based Solutions Programme Manager at C-Quest Capital, Commercial Director at Malawi Posts Corporation, and Director of Corporate Affairs and Communications at Japan Tobacco International.

His tenure as Commercial Director at the Malawi Posts Corporation is of particular note, where he spearheaded the parastatal’s turnaround through a focused strategy of digital modernization, service diversification, and recapitalization. Msusa holds a Master of Science in Agricultural Sciences from the University of Tsukuba in Japan and a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from the University of Malawi.

With his extensive background in information systems, public communication, and sustainable development, Msusa is uniquely positioned to lead Malawi’s digital transformation and advance the nation’s strategic goals as outlined in the Malawi 2063 vision.
