A Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) aspiring Member of Parliament for Lilongwe City Central Constituency Peter Mukhito, says if voted into power on the 16th September, 2025 elections, he will encourage youth development skills for the youth to contribute positively to the development of their areas.
Mukhito observed that a number of youth are idle because they have nothing to do thereby engaging in immoral behaviors saying with youth development initiatives, the youths will be encouraged to join and become productive citizens of their areas.
He has lamented that former President who is DPP leader Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika established Technical Colleges across the country for the youth to be trained in different vocational skills, but on a sad note, most of these colleges are not in operational.
Speaking in one of the media outlets, Mukhito said in the first 5 years of power, he will make sure that people of the constituency are accessing clean and portable water lamenting that some of the people in the constituency are still accessing dirty water describing this as a worrisome development.
Mukhito said Lilongwe City central constituency is housing State House observing that some people are still using water from unprotected water sources saying it is his wish to make sure that this comes to an end with him in power.
He said he will make sure that the constituency has two dispensaries saying the nearest one is Area 18 which is very far away beside being the only reliable health facility serving thousands of people in the constituency.
The aspiring Member of Parliament has promised to reduce poverty level by most of the women of the area through starting different programs targeting them by providing business skills and this will be done to groups so that at the end, they should be sharing the profit to sustain their daily lives.
“I have so many friends, I know how to make proposals for funding of projects, with support from the people, we will make it to change Lilongwe City Central constituency,” said Mukhito.
He has promised to walk with the people of Lilongwe City Centre from Day one, and within 5 years, the people will be seeing great things which will include road improvements and street lights to enable road users to have safety on these roads.
Mukhito has challenged the constituents to try him just the same as they have tried others observing that the constituency has had leaders but this does not mean that he is more intelligent than them encouraging all to learn the spirit of supporting one another that the little they have can play an impact with other peoples’ lives.
