Police have arrested two suspects in connection with separate murder incidents that occurred during the Easter period in Machinga and Salima districts.
According to National Deputy Police Spokesperson, Alfred Chinthere, in Machinga, the officers arrested Witness Hambeyani, 40, a mechanic based in Blantyre who hails from Traditional Authority Kachindamoto in Dedza, in connection with the murder of Charity Froliano, 26
He said the incident occurred on April 6, 2026, at Zee Lodge in Liwonde Township.
Chinthere added that the police arrested Amaan Kansia, 20, of Kachelenje Village under Traditional Authority Maganga, for allegedly causing the death of Abdul Panjuani, 22 in Salima District.
The Deputy PRO said the incident happened on April 5, 2026, at Wheelhouse Cottage in Sengabay following a quarrel, during which the suspect is alleged to have used a motor vehicle to hit the victim.
According to him, the i nvestigations of both cases are under way.
