Kondwani Kachamba Calls for Transparency and Respect for Public Accountability

By Rahim Abdul

Kondwani Kachamba has commented on the matter currently circulating on social media after being tagged countless times by Malawians asking him to give his position. Addressing the public, he said it was important to speak clearly and honestly on the issue.

He stated that questioning government expenditure should never be regarded as a crime, a malicious act or something intended to damage the country.

According to Kachamba, Malawians have a fundamental right and responsibility to question how public resources are being used.

Kachamba made his position clear that scrutiny of public spending must be encouraged and not blocked, restricted or covered up under any circumstances.

He stressed that transparency is essential in building trust between citizens and their leaders.

He explained that Malawians do not speak out for no reason. When citizens begin to raise concerns, it is usually because they have seen signs that something needs to be corrected. Leadership, he said, should take such concerns seriously.

Kachamba urged authorities to clarify the situation by providing original documents, including the official list and budget, if the documents circulating on social media are fake.

He emphasized that it is not enough to simply claim that information is false without producing authentic records to prove it.

He reminded leaders that Malawians are key stakeholders in governance and described them as the ultimate oversight authority of the presidency. As such, they have every right to demand accountability.

He added that those in leadership are in office to serve Malawians, rebuild the broken economy, and restore donor confidence. Any action that undermines transparency, he warned, risks harming these national goals.

Kachamba said the issue is simple, the truth cannot be defeated.

He stressed that no one can fight the truth or overpower the collective voice of Malawians, because the truth will always defend itself.

He also questioned the focus on identifying who leaked information, saying this is less important than examining whether the actions in question are ethical and whether they benefit or harm the nation.

Finally, Kachamba called on the public and leaders alike to encourage and protect those who speak out without fear, describing them as people defending public resources.

He urged everyone to avoid ridicule or dismissal of concerns and instead listen carefully, make corrections where necessary and do what is right for Malawi.
