FAM Slaps Big Bullets with K5 Million Fine Over Crowd Misconduct in FDH Bank Cup Clash

By Rahim Abdul
The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has handed FCB Nyasa Big Bullets a K5 million fine following acts of crowd misconduct during a tense FDH Bank Cup semifinal against Mighty Wanderers.
The incident occurred on 2 November 2025 when the two rivals met at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre, a match that drew massive attention and heightened emotions among supporters.
FAM reported that one of Big Bullets’ supporters engaged in inappropriate behavior targeting Mighty Wanderers goalkeeper Dalitso Khungwa during the encounter.

After deliberations, FAM’s disciplinary committee found Big Bullets liable for the actions of their supporter, ruling that the conduct violated football regulations and standards of fair play.
The association imposed a total fine of K5 million, broken down into several charges linked to the disturbances at the stadium.
According to FAM, K1 million was charged for pitch invasion, while K2 million was for throwing objects, including water, at goalkeeper Khungwa.
An additional K2 million was imposed for actions that brought the game of football into disrepute and negatively affected the image of the FDH Bank Cup and its sponsor.
Beyond the club penalty, FAM also sanctioned Big Bullets security official Thomson Chauluka, who was found guilty of misconduct related to the same incident.
Chauluka has been banned from participating in any football-related activities for one year as part of the disciplinary measures.
FAM has since granted Big Bullets and the implicated supporter a 72-hour window to appeal the ruling should they be dissatisfied with the decision.
