Minister Mumba Urges Religious Denominations to Support Education Sector*

By Jones Gadama
Minister of Trade, Vitumbiko Mumba, has called on religious denominations in Malawi to continue complementing government efforts in the education sector.
Mumba made this appeal during the fundraising launch for a Science Laboratory and Library at Katoto Islamic Secondary School in Mzuzu, where he donated K5 million to support the construction work.
The event also marked the opening of the school’s new office, and Deputy Board Chairperson, Daniel Hussein, expressed gratitude to Mumba for his contribution. Mumba’s donation is part of the school’s efforts to improve its infrastructure and provide better facilities for its students.

As Minister of Trade and Industry, Mumba has been instrumental in promoting development initiatives in various sectors.
Before becoming Minister, Mumba held several positions, including working as a contracts manager and project control engineer in countries like Botswana and Namibia.
His experience in infrastructure development makes his contribution to the school particularly significant.
Mumba’s call for religious denominations to support education is consistent with his vision for development in Malawi.
His ministry has been working to bring sanity to the trade industry, with initiatives aimed at reducing prices of essential commodities and promoting fair business practices.
The Katoto Islamic Secondary School initiative highlights the importance of collaboration between government and non-governmental institutions in promoting education. Mumba’s contribution will likely have a positive impact on the school and its students, enabling them to access better educational facilities.
