Parliament of Malawi launches radio station to engage citizens

By Rahim Abdul

The Parliament of Malawi has taken a significant step towards increasing citizen engagement and promoting parliamentary transparency with the launch of its own radio station, Parliament Radio, broadcasting on 98.0 FM.

The station began test transmissions on June 30, 2025, and will undergo a three-month test phase, gradually introducing selected programs into its schedule.

During this period, Parliament Radio will broadcast from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, featuring instrumental music, promotional messages, and announcements.

As the station transitions to full programming, it is expected to play a crucial role in disseminating parliamentary information, fostering informed public discourse, and bringing Parliament closer to the people.

The launch of Parliament Radio demonstrates the Parliament’s commitment to increasing transparency and accountability, as well as promoting citizen participation in the democratic process.

By providing a platform for parliamentary debates, discussions, and information dissemination, the radio station will help bridge the gap between Parliament and the citizens of Malawi.
