Dalitso Kabambe and Dr. Mtumbuka storm Mzuzu for UTM GIGA Rally ahead of September 16

By Burnett Munthali

As the clock ticks toward Malawi’s decisive September 16, 2025 general elections, the political temperature is rising across the country.

All eyes are now turning to Mzuzu, where the United Transformation Movement (UTM) is set to hold a powerful GIGA rally on Sunday, August 3.

The event, branded as part of the 2025 UTM GIGA Wave Northern Region Cruise, is expected to draw thousands of supporters from across the region.

Scheduled to kick off at exactly 1:30 PM, the rally will take place at Katoto Ground, a popular political arena in the heart of Mzuzu City.

At the center of this much-anticipated gathering are two heavyweight figures in Malawi’s political and intellectual circles—Dr. Mathews Mtumbuka and Dr. Dalitso Kabambe.

Dr. Dalitso Kabambe, backed by a passionate team of “special forces” within UTM, is expected to deliver a message of economic hope, transformation, and disciplined leadership.

Dr. Mathews Mtumbuka, known for his leadership in education and innovation, is also expected to fire up the crowd with a vision of progress, accountability, and digital empowerment.

The rally is being organized under the powerful slogan: “Osaopa, Osatopa, Osafooka”—a rallying cry which means “Do not fear, do not get tired, do not give up.”

This theme symbolizes the resilience and fighting spirit of UTM as it pushes forward with renewed energy and unity following a season of political transition.

The Northern Region, long seen as a battleground for political influence, is a key focus area in the UTM strategy for 2025.

The GIGA rally in Mzuzu is expected to serve not only as a show of strength but also as a blueprint of what UTM promises to offer Malawians if given the mandate to govern.

Issues such as inflation, youth unemployment, economic reforms, and national unity are likely to dominate the speeches and conversations at Katoto Ground.

With the late Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima’s legacy still fresh in the hearts of many, the rally may also serve as a moment of reflection and renewed purpose for UTM loyalists.

As thousands prepare to flock to Katoto Ground this Sunday, the road to September 16 continues to unfold—with momentum, with fire, and with the people at its center.

The UTM GIGA Wave has reached the North, and it shows no signs of slowing down.
