African nations urged to strengthen collaboration to advance STEM education

The Secretary for Education, Science and Technology,Ken Ndala, has emphasized the need for stronger regional collaboration among African countries to advance Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education, noting that collective action is essential for the continent’s progress.
Ndala made the remarks on Friday during the closing session of the three-day Conference on Mathematics, Science, and Technology Educators in Africa (COMSTEDA 22), held from 12th to 14th November at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC).

The minister highlighted the importance of shared learning and joint strategies in transforming Africa’s education landscape.
Addressing delegates from more than ten African member states,Ndala stressed that no single country can fully advance STEM education in isolation.
He encouraged participants to build on the ideas exchanged during the conference and work together to implement practical actions within their institutions and nations.
On his part,Strengthening Mathematics and Science Education in Africa (SMASE-Africa) President, Benson Banda, echoed these sentiments, expressing confidence in Africa’s ability to define its own future.
He pointed out that unity, cooperation, and sustained partnerships are crucial in addressing persistent challenges in the continent’s education systems.
