Malawi’s under-16 women’s basketball team loses opening match at region 5 youth games

The Malawi Under-16 Women’s Basketball Team got off to a rocky start at the Region 5 Youth Games in Windhoek, Namibia, suffering a 95-60 defeat to Angola in their opening pool match. The team’s performance showed promise, but they struggled to keep up with the Angolan side’s pace.

This loss doesn’t define the team’s chances, however, as they can still make a strong comeback in the tournament.

The Region 5 Youth Games feature talented young athletes from various countries, including Malawi, Angola, South Africa, Zambia, and more, all competing in different sporting codes.



The games, themed “Own Your Moment,” aim to celebrate youth potential and regional unity while providing a platform for future sporting stars to shine. With top-notch facilities and a well-organized structure, the tournament promises exciting matches and memorable moments.
